Sibling Rivalry

Lucy and Drover got a new monkey toy and they loved it! It was a lot of fun watching them play tug-of-war with each other. Now they just use the monkey as a chew toy. Its squeaker was chewed out within the first week and its stuffing has been steadily diminished. I love watching them play with new toys but have quickly learned that you don't spend a lot of money on dog toys. I only buy toys that are on clearance and avoid plastic toys because I've had several that have only lasted about 30 seconds before they start to be chewed to pieces. An occasional egg carton or cardboard box makes a mess to sweep up, but it gives them a few minutes of fun.

How cute! I LOVE the last picture - such soulful eyes. I like the way your dogs' bed colour matches your room too!

Have you tried giving them ice?

Millie loves it - it's crunchy & wet & slides all over the place. It keeps her nice and entertained for a while & it's free! (all you have to do it wipe up the melted bits after ...)

Drover sure does love to chew!

That's a great tip about the ice Tania. I think I shall go and give Drover a cube as soon as I have finished with this comment. Emma you are so patient and good with your dogs. Drover is a good dog and I do love him, although I think I have finished with dogs now. We shall just enjoy the ones that each of you get, (in your homes)??!!

Love,
Mum xx

Dogs are so much fun! Darwin's friend Henry plays at our house most days and they have a great time together. I gave them an old towel and they love tugging on that.

I think I need another dog to keep Sydney company. Since I have been working I have noticed a big jump in her chewing things to destruction. She has now chewed through 5 beds including the last one which we coated with bitter dog spray as a deterent. It didn't slow her down at all. Soft squeeky toys are attacked until the squeeker is located and then Sydney looses interest. Pointers are hunting dogs, (Sydney is half pointer)so they are just doing what they are designed to do unless we teach them otherwise. I need another 6 hours in my day!
